So best outcome I managed to get is to accept Maia's romance to get access to the "hidden quest" relating her bird, and then tell her that we should go back as friends. I think companions in the Pillars games generally have more interesting backgrounds & personal stories than the Dragon Age games, but you cant have as profound an effect in their lives in PoE as you did in DA: O. Its prequel made a delayed appearance on consoles, coming forth as a 'Complete Edition' in 2017.

The game was crowdfunded and will be releasing to PC, Mac and Linux in 2018. That is not to say its poor, but romance is nonexistent in PoE1, and a bit pointless in 2. Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is an upcoming CRPG by Obsidian entertainment, and a sequel to critically acclaimed Pillars of Eternity. Marking the next lines as spoiler as it includes some stuff from the dialogues, this is also the best "outcome" I could even get. DA: O has better companion writing than PoE, Imo. including Obsidians Pillars of Eternity, inXile Entertainments Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera and even became special guest writer for. I also tried to move Maia and Edèr away from the party when entering location so Xoti would be the first one to talk since she's the closest companion at the time, but seems that is not the logic for this event. I tried to do the romance options for Maia but then Xoti never came forth, turned down Maia and accepted Xoti, tried to talk to Maia and see if any options were there but none. (Edèr's conversation is irrelevant to upcoming lines) Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire improves upon the Pillars of Eternity formula in nearly every way, creating an RPG loaded with both strong combat and important, character-defining choices.
I just spent like 30-40min trying different stuff because I entered a location and Maia, Edèr and Xoti started talking to me in that order. Anyone know if its possible to romance multiple companions?
